So the fellowships that pay only 40-50k won't hire you without a year of experience.
I thought...being paid peanuts as a fellow was supposed to be your entry-level thing. How much lower can it get? Is there some way to volunteer as a lawyer for an entire year, so that you can get a job that won't pay your loans at all in a year or two?

Maybe you're supposed to work for a non-profit for a year and earn just enough not to starve to death. If you do that first, $40-50k will seem like a princely sum.
