Ockham is Delicious

We need socialized medicine to control health care costs.

Socialized medicine will be costly. We have to raise taxes.

If you can believe those two things at the same time (hi, half of this retarded country!), you deserve a death panel or a roundhouse kick panel or something that will stop your idiocy.

If Republicans are at war with science, Democrats are at war with logic; it's a pretty dangerous thing to start fighting. Someone in the reason-challenged community want to tell me why having the government pay way too much for a really expensive thing is so much better than having the private sector do the same thing that we're willing to risk all the extra costs that come with government control - regulatory capture, waste, all that uncontroversially-accepted extra baggage that government brings.

A glorious day

I mailed a letter to the Maricopa County Elections Department asking that they remove me from the voter registration database. Democracy (hah!) will continue along perfectly well without my input, and now I don't have to put up with reams of election mail.

Cryptic!

Tyler Cowen used to make courageous, correct points. Huh. Presumably he's got books to sell now, and can't afford to offend certain people.

?

So the fellowships that pay only 40-50k won't hire you without a year of experience.

I thought...being paid peanuts as a fellow was supposed to be your entry-level thing. How much lower can it get? Is there some way to volunteer as a lawyer for an entire year, so that you can get a job that won't pay your loans at all in a year or two?
